NAMAZGAH BASTION

After passing the Kilitbahir Castle, the construction of the Namazgâh Tabyası, including 26 bonets on the sea side of the road, was started with the suggestion of Baron De Tott, who came for the restoration of the Ottoman Army. It is the first and largest bastion built at the narrowest point of the Dardanellia.

It has gained the quality of the Central Bastion with the buildings added afterwards. This was the center of the 4th Heavy Artillery Regiment, to which the batteries serving in the bastions with connection during the Canakkale Wars. For this reason, it has always been one of the main targets of the allied navy. There were 16 cannons in the bastion. 2 of them are long and 14 are short-range. Only 2 of them actively served in naval warfare, others could not be used due to lack of range.

It is known that the place located on the main bastion, was used as the War Operations Center during the war. In the Bation, Canakkale war objects are exhibited. It was recently restored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2005-2006 and opened to visitors on March 18, 2006. Within the building, historical information about the battles is given in 12 exhibition panels.

After this section, a short video is showing the 7-minute Naval warfare which was made inside the bonets. In one of the bonets, an exhibition with a sound system that simulates wartime intelligence communication is presenting to the visitors. In the same section, photographs of sunken ships.
